'REIN ME IN'

'REIN ME IN' is a piece about rejection. It portrays a young man sitting on the stairway outside a woman’s house after receiving a cold-hearted rejection. The way down these stairs feels endlessly long and dreadful—so long that he has to pause midway, catching his breath while reconsidering the choices that brought him here.

At one point, the man sets his bouquet of flowers on fire. The burning bouquet symbolizes a moment of surrender, as if he has given up on love entirely. Yet love is a feeling that rarely disappears for long. The human desire to be loved is persistent, often returning even after moments when we believe we have extinguished it.
